On July 9, 2005 Windstar Charters was honored to be chosen as the escort vessel for the Holy Cross Alumni Swim Team, in the annual Manhattan Island Marathon Swim.

It begins and finishes at South Cove Marina in Battery City Park.

Proceeds south down the Hudson, around Battery Park and then up the East River.

Passes by Hell's gate and into the Harlem River before letting back into the Hudson for the swim back to South Cove Marina.

Last Year's marathon was cut short just as we were to head back down the Hudson, due to a severe squall with high winds and lightning, that just happened to pass through from New Jersey. Although the storm lasted about a half hour, it was long enough for race officials to cancel the remainder of the race. While a great time was had by all (swimmers and crew alike), we look forward to being honored again this year and hope to make the full circuit.
